One year after a driver struck and killed Charlie Proctor at the intersection of Appleton Street and Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington is testing short-term and long-term design solutions to slow down cars and improve safety.
"I'm so furious that after three deaths in two years MassDOT has done nothing for us. Nothing," said Mystic Avenue resident Emily Vides at the May 26 rally.
In 2015, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation initiated a $500,000 study to improve safety on its park roadways. But the study was never published, and six years later, the agency is stonewalling efforts to find out what happened.
